Carnivorous plants gallery
Carnivorous plants are plants which are able to prey little animals by using their leaves modified as traps. These plants are distribuited in all the world, especially in wet and humid areas.
Some of these plants (Sarracenia and Nepenthes) develop traps in form of "ascidium", other plants, like Dionea and Aldrovanda, have snap traps, while the genus Utricularia has aspiration traps. Finally, Drosera and Pinguicola have sticky traps.
There are also some plants, the so called "protocarnivorous plants", like Proboscidea and Ibicella, which have structures in order to catch prey, but however they can grow well also without pray. Also their habitat and cultivation is often different than the ones of true carnivorous plants.
